Method

How our sessions run

Public cohorts sit at 8 Changi Business Park Avenue 1. The method is the same for in-house days: a scoped brief, a classroom built around files and devices, then an assessment that produces a protocol or a closed excursion. We keep groups at fourteen so every person handles a logger and writes on paper rather than watching a demonstration from the back row.

Pedagogy

About 60% of contact time is practical: configuring loggers, laying a mapping grid on paper, packing a training shipper, or assembling an excursion file from timestamps. The remaining 40% is taught input on the public standard language (PIC/S GDP, IATA TCR, GDPMDS, WHO temperature annexes) that those tasks sit inside. Cold chain errors are usually sequence errors. Participants remember a method they have already performed under a time limit more reliably than a slide deck of alarm set-points they have only highlighted.

Equipment on the bench

Each room is set with USB and Bluetooth data loggers, a reference thermometer for a spot check against a logger channel, instructional passive shippers with coolant packs, and printed data sets taken from anonymised time-temperature profiles for the excursion and gap exercises. The kit is instructional. It is not a calibrated system for qualifying your chamber, and certificates of calibration on training devices are for teaching the reading of a certificate, not for use as site evidence. Participants may bring their own logger model if they want the configuration menus to match home; we still run the common USB and Bluetooth units so the group shares one method.

Data logger bench work

Logger configuration is taught as a data-integrity task: sample interval, start delay, time zone, alarm band and the file that must come back complete. The photograph on this page is from the same style of bench used on LOG-140 and on the practical hour of GDP-101. Participants work in pairs on the download, then write the gap finding as a single person so the assessment is individual.

Structure of a classroom day

08:45–17:30
TimeBlock
08:45–09:00Arrival, badges, devices signed out
09:00–10:30Taught input on the day’s standard language and the scoped site facts
10:30–10:45Coffee break
10:45–12:30First practical: loggers, pack-out or mapping grid
12:30–13:15Lunch
13:15–15:00Second practical: excursion file, audit trail or air-acceptance set
15:00–15:15Coffee break
15:15–16:30Written paper (20 questions) and start of the assessed practical
16:30–17:30Practical close, return of devices, outline of the reference sheet

Two-day codes repeat this shape on day two with a deeper protocol or mock audit. Finish time remains 17:30.

Assessment

The written paper has twenty questions drawn from the day’s vocabulary and from a short file extract. The pass mark is 70%. The practical is either a mapping protocol for a stated chamber (sensor count, coordinates, empty and loaded runs, acceptance) or a closed excursion investigation with disposition language and a CAPA seed. One resit of paper and practical is allowed within thirty days of the original sitting. A completion certificate is issued only after both parts are passed. Attendance without a pass can be confirmed in writing if an employer needs that record.

What a participant takes away

Printed protocol templates used that day, a reference sheet of the temperature bands and document types discussed in class, and a shipment-acceptance checklist covering logger presence, pack-out photograph and receiving timestamps. These are working drafts for the participant’s desk. They are not a licensed SOP library and they do not replace site procedures or a qualified person’s decision.

Accessibility and the training floor

The Changi Business Park room seats sixteen, which keeps circulation around fourteen participants plus instructors. There is a projector, step-free access from the lift lobby, and power at the benches. For mapping and chamber walk-throughs we use a training cold room at a neighbouring facility in Changi under a sharing arrangement; we do not name that host on this site. Tell us before the course if a participant needs a printed paper in larger type, a seat near the screen, or extra time on the written paper. We will arrange that quietly on the day.
